In the "Rail Baltica" project, a participant who offered the lowest price was excluded from the tender for the procurement of railway switches for a rather formal reason.
Minister of Agriculture Armands Krauze, speaking on the television program "Nra.lv sarunas", drew attention to what is happening in the "Rail Baltica" project. According to him, there may be a large embezzlement of funds in the project.
Krauze stated that in one of the tenders, the difference between the bids of the participants was 267 million euros, and the cheapest bid was rejected.
Researcher from the University of Latvia Ilmars Poikans reacted sharply to this situation.
"When will these scoundrels finally die and free Latvia from their insatiability? 'Rail Baltica' will be purchasing at an expensive price:
Voestalpine — 646,248,805 euros
Vossloh — 379,242,055 euros.
Vossloh is an old German company that was excluded from the competition because they submitted a bank guarantee for 167 days instead of the required 180," Poikans wrote.
