Intelligence Reports When Russia May Start War with the Baltic States 0 41

Russia will be ready for a "limited military conflict" in the Baltic region in a year or two if the war in Ukraine concludes soon with a peace agreement and major sanctions are lifted from Moscow, reports Meduza. Such assessments are presented in the annual report by Lithuanian intelligence.

In six to ten years under these circumstances, intelligence believes Russia will be ready for a full-scale military conflict with NATO.

"As long as Russia has to direct almost all available resources to the war against Ukraine, its ability to create military threats to other states is limited," the document states.

In early February, a similar annual report was published by Estonian intelligence. It states that while Russia "remains a dangerous country," it is unlikely to attack NATO countries at least in the next two years.
