Unexpectedly: An EU and NATO Country Opposed the US and Israel's Attack on Iran

The war in Iran has elicited mixed reactions in the European Union. Thus, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez condemned the military operation by the US and Israel against Iran.

“Today, more than ever, it is necessary to remember: one can oppose a disgusting regime — as the entire Spanish society does regarding the Iranian regime — and at the same time be against unjustified, dangerous military intervention that goes beyond international law.

We must oppose a war initiated without the permission of the US Congress and the UN Security Council, and, as I have said before, violating international law. And there is always room for a negotiated solution instead of allowing oneself to be drawn into the destructive logic of weapons as the only possible way out,” said Pedro Sanchez.

While Spain debates the legality of the war in Iran, the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, along with its strike group, has changed course and set sail towards the eastern Mediterranean.
