The Baltic States should not panic over a possible Russian invasion; however, it is clear that we live next to an aggressive and unreliable neighbor that continues to increase militarization and question the inviolability of state borders, said Latvia's ambassador to Ukraine, Andrey Pildegovich, in an interview with the LETA agency.
Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian president's administration, Kyrylo Budanov, who previously headed the Main Intelligence Directorate, stated that Russia is preparing to invade the Baltic States.
Pildegovich believes that Budanov's words should be taken seriously in order to be prepared for crisis situations.
"We all know about the Russian drone attacks on various European countries, as well as the damaged cables in the Baltic Sea," noted the ambassador.
At the same time, he emphasized that these threats should not be perceived as inevitable and unavoidable.
"Of course, Budanov was also addressing European leaders with these words to convey the message: if Ukraine is defeated, the threats from Russia to Europe will increase," said Pildegovich.
He added that living on the border with Russia requires maintaining vigilance, and the entire public should think about security.
