The main problem in the field of rehabilitation assistance in Latvia is the inaccessibility of such services in the regions, said this morning in an interview with TV3 the new head of the National Rehabilitation Center "Vaivari", former health minister Ilze Vinkele, as reported by LETA.
Speaking about the queues for rehabilitation services, Vinkele acknowledged that the waiting time for some services can reach 20 weeks, which is unacceptable, as providing assistance over such a long period may lose its meaning. However, there are also programs where patients can be seen within a few weeks.
In the next five years, Vinkele does not plan to return to politics, but she spoke evasively about a more distant perspective, only noting that the only thing that is inevitable in life is death, and everything else can change.
As reported earlier, since the second half of January, the duties of the chairperson of the board of the National Rehabilitation Center "Vaivari" have been performed by former health minister and long-time politician Ilze Vinkele.
