Latvia expressed solidarity with Denmark regarding the US claims on Greenland and supported strengthening security in the Arctic.
Dialogue and unity are the right approach to resolving disagreements among allies, said Prime Minister Evika Silina to the LETA agency after the extraordinary meeting of the European Council.
According to her, current international events and transatlantic relations were discussed at the extraordinary meeting of the European Council in Brussels. "It is positive that the situation has de-escalated," noted the Prime Minister.
Silina stated that Latvia expressed solidarity with Denmark and supported strengthening security in the Arctic.
"We continue to unwaveringly support Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia," emphasized the Prime Minister.
She also added that Europe will strengthen its competitiveness and investments in defense.
