The government is ready to participate in the management of the Rezekne concert hall 'Gors' if necessary, but it must not allow the Rezekne local government to use this to evade responsibility, said Prime Minister Evika Siliņa in an interview with Latvian Television's 'Morning Panorama' program.

The Prime Minister reminded that at the end of last year, the government already instructed the Ministry of Culture to assess and resolve the situation with the management of 'Gors'. In her opinion, the sudden change of leadership does not indicate that everything is fine with the management of the concert hall.

The head of the government believes that transferring the institution to state ownership would be the simplest way, but at the same time, it is necessary to evaluate what the local government has done for the development of the concert hall and whether its management and leadership activities were full-fledged and aimed at preserving and promoting national values.

Siliņa suggests that the Ministry of Culture and the government will propose various scenarios for the further management of 'Gors', first offering the local government to voluntarily agree to one of them. 'We are ready, but we also want the local government to take responsibility, so that it does not turn out that the local government simply shirks responsibility, and then the state resolves all the unresolved issues. We have discussed this as well, and actions will be taken,' promised the Prime Minister.

As reported, by the end of January, the Ministry of Culture must prepare an informational report on the results of negotiations with the Rezekne local government and possible solutions regarding 'Gors'.
