The former head of the Rezekne concert hall "Gors," Diana Zirniņa, supports the transfer of this cultural institution to the state.
In an interview with TV3, Zirniņa stated that she unequivocally supports the transfer of "Gors" to state management, as this would provide more independence, primarily in the artistic sphere.
Zirniņa declined to answer whether she would be willing to return to the position of head of the concert hall if the institution were to be handed over to the state.
The former manager shared that there was a constant lack of financial resources at "Gors" every year, and in recent years, during the annual budget discussions with the municipality, there were accusations of an alleged surplus of staff and refinancing, which is not true, as, for example, a recent audit did not reveal insufficient workload among employees.
In Zirniņa's opinion, the accusations from Rezekne politicians regarding insufficient attendance and repertoire are merely a "pretext for something." She noted that the large hall of "Gors" was built for about a thousand people, and it is logical that it is not always full, as a number of events are deliberately aimed at a narrower audience.
Zirniņa acknowledged that there were hints from the leadership of the Rezekne municipality about the need to adhere to a different artistic direction - there was talk of "artists from the east," about the desire to "see artists from television or YouTube."
