The opinion of Riga residents about the work of the Riga City Council improved at the end of the year, according to the results of a survey conducted by the SKDS research center in November.
If in May of this year the rating was minus 8.2, then in the November survey it rose to minus 0.9. Overall, 44% of respondents rated the work of the Riga City Council positively, while 41% expressed a negative opinion.
The index for assessing the work of the municipality is calculated using a rather complex formula, where the difference between "somewhat positive" and "somewhat negative" ratings is multiplied by a coefficient of 0.5, and the difference between "very positive" and "very negative" ratings is multiplied by a coefficient of 1, after which these two differences are summed.
In the November survey, 14.5% of respondents admitted that they had no opinion on the work of the Riga City Council.
Citizens of Latvia rated the work of the Riga City Council higher than respondents without citizenship.
Respondents aged 18-24 and 65-75, those with higher education, those who predominantly speak Latvian at home, people with low, lower-middle, or upper-middle income, as well as residents of the Central and Kurzeme districts, more frequently rated the work of the council positively.
Respondents aged 55-64, Russian speakers, as well as residents of the Vidzeme and Latgale suburbs rated the work of the Riga City Council more critically than average.
