Baiba Braže commented on the fixation idea of recent weeks - to dismantle part of the railway towards Russia.
Foreign Minister Baiba Braže ("New Unity") answered the question of whether Latvia should dismantle the rails towards Russia in an interview on the Latvian Television program "Morning Panorama."
The minister emphasized that there is no point for Latvia to dismantle the rails alone. Negotiations with other countries in the region are necessary, and the decision should be joint.
At the same time, Braže believes that Latvia should be prepared to dismantle the rails if needed. This means that both personnel and technical means must be organized to do this quickly.
"There must be full readiness to do this. That is, there are scenarios, capabilities — both people and equipment," said the minister, adding that intelligence work allows for a clear view of what is happening on the Russian side.
