The budget review process showed that the coalition has a majority in parliament with 52 votes, Prime Minister Evika Silina ("New Unity") stated in an interview with TV3 on Wednesday, assessing the stability of the coalition she leads.

Silina noted that after the budget approval, she plans to discuss with the coalition parties which issues they consider priorities to address in the remaining period before the Saeima elections.

Silina emphasized that it is important to take into account the "internal feelings" of coalition partners during the upcoming negotiations. According to her, it is necessary to discuss the issues that have "raised the temperature" within the coalition and led some deputies to prefer to join the opposition in several votes.

Silina once again urged coalition parties to "take a breath" and determine whether they are capable of working together in the remaining period before the elections and ensuring government stability despite various political influences.

In response to a question about how to react to violations of the coalition agreement, Silina stated that during the pre-election period, it is natural for parties to seek to position themselves and demonstrate differences. At the same time, she acknowledged that significant disagreements do undermine the stability of the government.

The Prime Minister noted that none of the coalition partners expressed distrust towards each other and no minister has been dismissed. However, currently, there are no opportunities for expanding the coalition.

Discussing other relevant political issues, Silina disagreed with the assertion that the government is violating its own commitment to limit the growth of remuneration to 2.6%. According to her, the recorded increase in salaries by entrepreneurs of 6.7% occurred due to the increase in salaries of internal affairs employees, for which a conscious exception was made.

Regarding state support for woodworking enterprises, Silina admits that it may be necessary to initiate an official investigation at the government level to more thoroughly assess the decisions made and their justification.
