The ruling coalition currently demonstrates a determination to work together, Prime Minister Evika Siliņa told reporters on Thursday evening after the state budget for the next year was adopted, in response to a question about whether negotiations on the future of the coalition could take place soon.

Siliņa emphasized that the government worked intensively on the budget throughout the summer, and this process was not easy. The reduction of expenses by 844 million euros and the pension reform required lengthy discussions behind closed doors at several meetings.

Now the coalition has reached an agreement, and the budget received support from 52 votes, allowing work to continue, the Prime Minister said.

She noted that negotiations are already underway regarding priorities for the next year, as well as decisions that need to be made by the end of the year. Siliņa pointed out that the election period has begun for all parties, which brings additional dynamics to the coalition's work - partners are trying to highlight not only what unites them but also what distinguishes each party.

However, overall, the coalition demonstrates a willingness to work together, and the two largest parties have strengthened their cooperation, she said.
