The former Minister of Defense supported the dismantling of the rails in the direction of Russia.
Former Minister of Defense Artis Pabriks also shared his "two cents" on social media regarding the possible dismantling of the railway track in the direction of Russia.
"Latvian Railways and all transportation should reorient towards the South-North line, which includes Rail Baltica. For the coming years, we need to forget everything related to East-West; it will only bring disaster," wrote A. Pabriks. In response to a commentator's question about what we will transport from south to north and vice versa, the former minister replied: "Anything that can be transported through Turkey, Ukraine, or other countries south of us. The Russian border should be closed because everything coming from there is 'contaminated' and harmful to our security. If someone wants to trade with totalitarian Russia or through it, let them do so, but not here."
