The Saeima will also preliminarily consider changes regarding the state's payment procedure for medical services.

In the new week, the deputies from the ruling coalition, working in the budget and finance committee, will find themselves in a very difficult situation. On one hand, the ruling coalition and the government have already agreed on the few budget proposals that still need to be supported. On the other hand, this Friday everything changed again - the 'green farmers' demanded that funds for passenger transport in the provinces be allocated in the 2026 budget, taking money from the Rail Baltica project. We are talking about several million euros. What should the budget committee do now?

However, the committee will meet for three consecutive days, and perhaps during this time the coalition will come to some agreement...

The budget committee will also consider and is likely to approve a bill aimed at compensating prosecutors and judges for the lost right to retirement benefits based on years of service. The bill provides for a special supplement to the pensions of the servants of Themis.

The social affairs committee will familiarize itself with the amendments prepared by the Ministry of Health to the Law on Healthcare Funding, which state that the government pays for medical services for those Latvians who pay social tax or are included in the Register of Natural Persons of the Republic of Latvia, that is, declared in Latvia.

The mandates committee, together with experts, will evaluate two popular initiatives aimed at ensuring animal protection. This is a kind of response from animal rights advocates to the increasing cases of animal cruelty.
