Riga's budget for next year may be 'modest', said the capital's mayor Viesturs Kleinbergs to the LETA agency.

According to him, the total amount of funding currently under discussion is 28 million euros.

The volume of expenditures in the capital's budget will also be affected by a significantly smaller budget surplus this year than planned.

To balance the budget, the municipality plans to implement a new approach to the implementation of investment projects, seek opportunities for project realization based on public-private partnerships, and attract funding from European Union funds.

Kleinbergs noted that the capital managed to reduce its contributions to the equalization fund for municipalities by 1.5 million euros.

Currently, budgetary needs are being discussed with all departments of the municipality. Discussions on the capital budget may begin in the committees in the second week of December.

As reported, this year, the revenues of the capital municipality were planned at 1.47 billion euros, which is 50 million euros more than in 2024. Meanwhile, expenditures are planned at 1.694 billion euros.
