President Edgars Rinkēvičs insists that we need to be more responsible for our posts on social media.
"I also don’t like the way people discuss certain things. Unfortunately, the era of modern technology has both positive and negative sides," noted Rinkēvičs about what is happening on social media in the program 'Dienas personība ar Veltu Puriņu' on TV24.
"If you are just sitting with a tablet, not seeing your opponent, attacking them while remaining anonymous or even doing it openly, it destroys a lot," the president believes.
Rinkēvičs urges people to be more attentive and critical of the information on social media.
"The main question is how much we believe what is written on social media, taking it as truth and the opinion of the majority of the population. Although posts on social media X, Facebook, TikTok, or Instagram can be completely different," he emphasizes.
The president calls on everyone to take responsibility for what they write on social media.
"We are all one society; there is no 'they' and 'we'. 'They' and 'we' often arise as a result of our own actions," states Rinkēvičs.
