Saeima deputies receive remuneration for their work from the state budget. Their salaries, like those of other public officials, are regulated by the Law on the Remuneration of Officials and Employees of State and Municipal Institutions. The remuneration of parliamentarians is automatically reviewed each year in accordance with changes in the average salary and inflation in the country. Deputies may receive additional payment for performing duties in the Presidium of the Saeima, factions, committees, and subcommittees.
The monthly salary of a Saeima deputy in 2025 is 4,330 euros before tax deductions.
Deputies do not receive additional allowances for participating in Saeima and committee meetings, delegations, or deputy groups. Bonuses are not paid to parliamentarians.
Deputies are reimbursed for expenses related to the performance of their parliamentary duties. They can receive compensation for housing rent and transportation costs. The compensation system is organized to equalize the opportunities of deputies elected from remote regions with those of deputies from Riga.
The maximum allowable amount of compensation depends on the place of residence: the closer a deputy lives to Riga, the lower the possible compensation amount.
