Nationalists: Liquidate the Integration Fund, and instead create another Fund...

The leader of Austošā saule believes that the projects of the Society Integration Fund impose "ideologies alien to the Latvian people."

The Union of Greens and Farmers, part of the ruling coalition, attempted to achieve the liquidation of the Society Integration Fund in the context of the budget discussion for 2026. But in vain. The most they managed to "sign" their power partners on was to conduct a functional audit of the Fund's activities next year. However, the topic of liquidating the Fund was immediately picked up by a new political force vying for the votes of nationalistically inclined voters, Austošā saule ("Rising Sun").

"The only result of the previous policy of integration and multiculturalism is the division of society and the weakening of the positions of the Latvian language and culture. The Society Integration Fund was originally created as a bureaucratic mechanism, through which state funds are directed to projects that do not promote national cohesion, but often work in the interests of specific groups, imposing ideologies that are unacceptable to the Latvian people.

In this regard, it is necessary to redirect state support by creating a National Cohesion Fund. Its main priority would be to preserve the identity, language, and culture of the Latvian people, as well as the unity of society based on the national values of Latvia and the foundations of the Constitution. This fund should operate transparently, clearly defining that public funding is allocated to initiatives that strengthen the connection between the state’s main nation and civil society, rather than fragmenting society towards ideological or group interests.

The Integration Fund must be liquidated, and instead, a new fund should be created that truly protects the national interests of Latvia, strengthens Latvian identity, and does not spend money on promoting ideologies that are unfriendly to the Latvian people and even dangerous. If the goal is a united and strong state, this cannot be achieved with an institution that is itself part of the problem. A new approach, a new structure, and a clear directive are needed — funds must be invested in those projects that genuinely strengthen the country and its future, rather than support a stagnant system whose goals often contradict the interests of the Latvian people," the statement from the newly formed party reads.
