A solemn session will take place in the Saeima tomorrow, followed by important commission meetings in the coming days.
Tomorrow, following established tradition, a solemn session of the Saeima will take place, dedicated to the anniversary of the proclamation of Latvia's independence. The Speaker of the Saeima, Daiga Mierina, will address the deputies, ministers, and diplomatic corps.
However, before the solemn session, the presidium of the Saeima will convene to approve the agenda for the plenary session on November 20 and to review the composition of deputies delegated by the factions to work in the new parliamentary investigative commission to investigate the tariff policy of "Rīgas siltums."
On Wednesday, the commissions of the Saeima will resume their work. The focus will be on the discussion in the legal commission regarding the candidate for the position of Attorney General. It is worth noting that the Judicial Council has nominated Armin Meisters, a senior prosecutor at the Riga District Prosecutor's Office, for this position. We dare to assume that he will be supported by the overwhelming majority of Saeima deputies.
In turn, the commission on inquiries will consider a request from the National Alliance deputies to the Minister of Transport regarding the still ongoing bus passenger transportation to Russia and Belarus.
A request from the United List deputies to the Minister of Economics will also be reviewed concerning the plans of "Latvenergo" to issue bonds worth as much as 1 billion euros. The deputies want to know how the funds raised in this way will be spent and who made such a decision.
