And a Day for Amendments. Deputies Approved the Budget in the First Reading 0 139

51 politicians spoke from the podium of the Saeima on the budget once, and another 6 politicians went to the podium twice to discuss the main financial law of the country. This is the result of two days of discussions in parliament. There were no sensational developments - as a result, today deputies approved the budget in the first reading by a majority vote (51 'For' and 45 'Against').

Now the representatives of the people have a day to submit their proposals (amendments) to the draft budget-2026. The submitted amendments will be reviewed by the government and the Saeima's budget and finance committee. The final reading of the budget is scheduled for December 3. If the debates drag on again, the session on the budget approval will smoothly transition to December 4.
