Silina on «some parties»: have they all done enough for our security

The coalition, consisting of "New Unity," the Union of Greens and Farmers (SZF), and the "Progressives," is ready to work, but Prime Minister Evika Silina (SP) is evasive about its future after the state budget is adopted.

On Monday, after an extraordinary government meeting, Silina did not provide a specific answer to the question of whether the coalition has a future after the budget is adopted. She emphasized that the agreement on the budget is very important for everyone right now. "We see that this is a budget for security. And it is very important that the decisions on the table are discussed in the Saeima," said Silina.

The Prime Minister noted that the coalition she leads has always been in the media spotlight from day one, and she does not recall a time when the media did not ask how long this coalition would last. "But you see, this is already the third budget that we are drafting together in this coalition," she said.

Silina pointed out that politics is full of difficulties and decisions are not made easily. This creates tension not only within the coalition but also in the sectors that lobby for their interests. "Challenges will certainly arise. We are ready to work," said the Prime Minister.

However, if any of the coalition parties do not want or are unable to adhere to the budgetary framework in a disciplined manner, then that is a question for them: have all these political forces done enough for our society, our children, our future, and our security, so that "due to populism or quick decisions today, we do not make decisions that are very, very important for all of us in the long term."
