On Monday, the weather in Latvia will be unsettled. Prolonged heavy rain is expected in the east of the country, while thunderstorms with rain and hail are possible in several areas of Kurzeme and Zemgale.
Meteorologists warn of adverse weather conditions in various parts of Latvia. On Monday, the eastern regions of the country will be under the influence of a precipitation zone coming from Belarus, bringing heavy rain.
According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, intense precipitation may continue not only during the day but also into the night on Tuesday.
At the same time, a yellow warning has been issued in many areas of Kurzeme and Zemgale. Thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon, which may be accompanied by heavy rain and hail in some places.
The most challenging weather situation is forecasted in areas where thunderstorm clouds will form locally. In such cases, the amount of precipitation in a short period can be significant.
It is important to note that heavy rain can cause temporary flooding of individual streets and worsen driving conditions on the roads. During thunderstorms, there may also be brief gusts of wind and reduced visibility.
Despite the precipitation, the day will remain relatively warm. The maximum air temperature will range from +17 to +24 degrees.
In Riga, the weather will begin to deteriorate in the afternoon. Cloud cover will gradually increase, and by evening, rain and thunderstorms are possible. The air temperature in the capital will rise to about +23 degrees.
According to meteorologists, the weather conditions in the region are determined by an area of high atmospheric pressure, while a cyclone is strengthening over Belarus, influencing the development of precipitation in Latvia.
Thus, the beginning of the week will be marked by changeable weather: the eastern part of the country will face prolonged rain, while the western and central regions will experience local thunderstorms and downpours.
