On the night of Saturday, in some places in Kurzeme, with a drop in air temperature to 0 to +2 degrees, ground frost is expected, meteorologists forecast.
The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre has issued a yellow frost warning for the western part of the country, which will be in effect from 1:00 AM to 6:00 AM. Measures should be taken to protect plants, such as covering or watering them, if necessary.
In other parts of Latvia, the air temperature will drop to +3 to +8 degrees. In the western part of the country, the sky will be mostly clear, while in the eastern regions it will be cloudy, with occasional rain. A light northwestern wind will blow, and there will be calm weather in Kurzeme.
On the penultimate day of May, predominantly cloudy weather is expected in Latgale and eastern Vidzeme, while the rest of the country will be sunny. In the eastern part of the country, there may be light rain in places.
With a light or moderate northern to northwestern wind, the maximum air temperature on Saturday will range from +11 degrees in eastern Latgale to +21, +22 degrees in places in Zemgale and central Kurzeme.
In Riga, on May 30, dry and sunny weather will persist, with a light to moderate northern to northwestern wind. The air temperature will drop to +8 degrees at dawn, and in the suburbs, it will be +4 to +7 degrees. During the day, the temperature will reach +18 degrees, but at the beaches by the sea, it will not be warmer than +15 degrees.
