Next week, on June 1, the extended line of the 7th tram and the new transport hub "Kengarags" will be opened in Riga, as reported by bb.lv from the company "Rīgas satiksme".
The new extension of the tram line will improve public transport accessibility in Kengarags and make transfers between different types of transport more convenient and faster.
The event will be attended by the management of "Rīgas satiksme", representatives of the Riga City Council, project partners, and specialists involved in the construction.
The total length of the extension of tram tracks for route No. 7 is 2.2 kilometers. As part of the project, a transport hub was built at the intersection of Latgales and Vishkyu streets, along with a new dispatch building and access roads for public transport from Latgales and Vishkyu streets.
Landscaping work has been carried out in the area — spacious canopies, information boards, greenery, and street lighting have been installed. In addition, the route of the 15th trolleybus has been extended along Vishkyu Street by 300 meters to the new transport hub.
A contract was signed with SIA "Binders" for the development of the construction project, execution of construction works, and author supervision for the implementation of the tram line extension project.
As previously reported, the turnover of the road construction company SIA "Binders" last year amounted to 147.201 million euros, which is 2.2 times more than in 2024, and the company's profit increased several times — to 12.905 million euros, according to information from "Firmas.lv".
