According to the latest forecasts from meteorologists, the wind on Sunday will be slightly weaker than previously predicted.
Based on the latest data, the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre has changed the area and duration of the orange warning. From the middle of the upcoming night on the coast, and on Sunday during the day across the rest of the country, gusts of northwestern and northern winds will reach 20-23 m/s, and in the morning on the coast, gusts will strengthen to 25 m/s.
The wind will gradually subside on Sunday evening.
Forecasters warn that strong winds can break branches and trees, carry unsecured objects and debris through the air, damage infrastructure, complicate driving conditions, and there may also be power supply interruptions.
It was previously forecasted that the speed of the northwestern wind on Sunday would be 20-26 m/s.
In the upcoming night, precipitation is expected in many regions - rain, sleet, and snow. Thermometer readings will drop to 0…+4 degrees at night.
During the day, the air temperature will not exceed +4...+8 degrees. In most parts of the country, precipitation is possible at times - mainly wet snow and rain, with thunderstorms in Kurzeme. Also, an unstable snow cover of 1 to 3 cm may form in some areas.
