On May 4, Riga will celebrate the 36th anniversary of the restoration of Latvia's independence with an extensive cultural program, the Riga City Council's external communication department reported.

From 10 AM until the evening of the next day, every Riga resident and guest of the city can participate in creating the symbolic composition "Flower Latvia" at the Freedom Monument.

At 10:30 AM, an official flower-laying ceremony will take place at the Freedom Monument, and at 12:00 PM, a parade of brass bands from Latvian schools will occur at Freedom Square.

On May 4, a festive event "All Together - in Latvia!" will be held in Vermanes Garden for families with children. In creative workshops, children will learn how to care for nature and the environment, draw various characters with author and illustrator Ruta Briede, play educational games, make paper crafts, and play table hockey.

Children's groups "Knīpas un Knauķi", "Kolibri", "Podziņas", "Momo", and "Poppy" will perform on the Vermanes Garden stage, and at 3:00 PM, a performance titled "Lemonade" will feature poems and fairy tales by Inese Zandere and songs by Jakabs Nimanis.

At 12:00 PM, a concert of folk ensembles "Kokle", "Skandinieki", "Vilkači", "Rīgas Danču klubs", and "Brička" will begin at Town Hall Square. This will be followed by a traditional procession in folk costumes, concluding with a flower-laying ceremony at the Freedom Monument at 2:30 PM.

The "Splendid Palace" cinema will host a marathon of Latvian films throughout the day. Admission to the screenings is free.

From 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the event "My Latvia - My Responsibility" will take place at Freedom Square, featuring a diverse musical program.

Performing at the monument will be the folk ensemble "Skandinieki", the children's and youth vocal ensemble "Kolibri", the dance ensembles "Ačkups" and "Austris", the group "Dārdari", the mixed choir named after Dārziņš, singer Elza Rozentāle with an ethno-jazz quartet, and the post-folk group "Rikši". The event will conclude at 8:30 PM with a concert performance titled "Spring. Eternal Youth".

Festive events will also take place throughout the day in the neighborhoods of Riga.
