In February, the purchase price of beef in Latvia increased by 2.4% compared to January, reports the Ministry of Agriculture.
The Ministry of Agriculture of Latvia also points out in an official statement that beef production in the European Union decreased by 4.2% last year compared to 2024. In Latvia, this figure was 8.8%.
When it comes to other countries in the European Union, Hungary led the way last year with a beef production increase of +27.5% during the specified period. Romania has something to be proud of with +22.8% and Malta with +11.2%.
Overall, in the European Union, the average price of beef increased by 29.1% from March 2005 to February 2006. In Latvia, on the other hand, it rose by 38.2% from March 2024 to February 2025.
