The U.S. Showed Its Favorite Baltic Country – It Is Being Armed Without Delays

Of the three Baltic countries, only one has not faced delays in American arms deliveries. And that is Latvia.

Latvia has not received any official information about possible delays in arms deliveries from the U.S., said Latvia's Prime Minister Evika Silina today in Tallinn.

She noted that Latvia is monitoring information in the public domain, but at this moment there is no information suggesting that the U.S. may fail to fulfill or significantly delay arms deliveries to Latvia.

Estonia and Lithuania Sent to the Waiting Room

Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal stated that the U.S. has informed his country about potential problems with arms deliveries amid the conflict in the Middle East.

According to Michal, Estonia is in "close contact" with the U.S. and is negotiating ways to address this issue. "We understand the arguments and circumstances," the head of the Estonian executive power preemptively apologized to the Americans.

The same trouble exists in Lithuania. As stated today by the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense, Pentagon representatives informed the country about possible delays in the delivery of ammunition that Lithuania purchased from the U.S.

"We are in constant contact with the Pentagon regarding the delivery of military equipment and ammunition acquired from the U.S., and we are guided by the official information provided by our allies," the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense added.

What Latvia Will Receive

Latvia is actively purchasing arms from the U.S., focusing on long-range systems and anti-ship missiles. The main purchases include:

HIMARS Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (M142): At the end of 2023, Latvia signed a contract to acquire six HIMARS systems, as well as associated equipment and ammunition, including long-range ATACMS missiles (range up to 300 km).

Naval Strike Missiles (NSM): Latvia is purchasing American NSM anti-ship missiles (produced by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, but under contracts with the U.S.) for coastal defense.

Anti-tank Systems: Portable Javelin anti-tank missile systems are being procured.

Air Defense Systems: Short-range surface-to-air missile systems.
