Today, a large number of employees from the State Fire and Rescue Service (GPSS) have been dispatched to extinguish the fire in a residential building at 70 Bruņinieku street in Riga.
The fire call was received at 14:35. A two-story wooden house was on fire, and the flames spread quickly.
More than 30 rescuers with eight fire trucks and two aerial ladders are participating in extinguishing the fire.
The State Fire and Rescue Service (GPSS) and other emergency services are working at the scene, and people are asked to stay away from the fire area to avoid hindering the work and movement of rescuers, as well as to protect their health from smoke exposure.
Traffic is restricted and heavily obstructed near the incident site, in the area of Bruņinieku and Avotu streets.
As reported by the municipal transport company "Rīgas satiksmē" to the LETA agency, due to the fire, buses on route 50 heading towards Abrenes street have been redirected along Avotu, Matisa, Čaka streets, and further along the route. During the changes, the stops "Bruņinieku iela" and "Čaka iela" are not being serviced.
