The head of the youth assistance center spoke about the 'shadow' side of long weekends.
"The more days off we have, the more work we have. This time it's four days off," said Edijs Klaišis, who has been running the youth assistance center for several years on the social network X.
"The sequence of events is roughly as follows.
On the first and second days, parents drink and/or use drugs. For the first two days, there is enough money for this. On the third day, the money for alcohol and/or drugs starts to run out, and 'quarrels' and fights begin at home. On the third day, calls come in from those kids who cannot withstand the 'events' at home. By the fourth day, there is no money left at all, and there is no food at home, and we start receiving calls from young people who want to eat and need help with food. We help them with food as best as we can. Today, we have the most work.
Thank you very much to everyone who is with us!" - summarized the long weekend E. Klaišis.
