The share of exports is rapidly declining. And it's not the only one!
Janis Hermanis, an expert from the Latvian Confederation of Employers, drew attention on social media to three recent rankings from the Eurostat statistical office. Thus, in terms of labor productivity, Latvia lags not only behind the EU average but also behind Lithuania and Estonia. While the average labor productivity in the EU is 19.2%, Estonia's figure is 13.4%, Lithuania's is 12.9%, and Latvia's is 10.5%.
Latvia's GDP level is only 54% of the EU average. Estonia's GDP level is 69% of the average, while Lithuania's is 67%.
Another indicator that does not flatter Latvia is the level of co-financing of treatment by patients. It is estimated that 35.1% of medical expenses are borne by the patients themselves. Even more is spent on their treatment by residents of Bulgaria - 35.5%. This means that Latvia ranks second in terms of treatment costs. Greece is in third place at 34.3%, and Lithuania is fourth at 31.4%. Patients pay the least for their treatment in Croatia (9.4% of the total treatment costs), in France - 9.2%, and in Luxembourg - 8.5%.
