In Riga, educators and police officers will be able to receive assistance for housing payments. This decision was approved by the Committee on Financial and Administrative Affairs of the Riga City Council.
What Specialists Can Claim
Two types of support are provided: compensation for rent payments for housing and payments related to its use, or compensation for the use of accommodation. Up to 250 euros per month will be allocated to cover these expenses for a period of up to two years.
This means that one can expect an amount no greater than 6,000 euros over two years.
In 2026, under the first type of support, it is planned to assist up to 116 educators, allocating 350,000 euros for this, and under the second type of support (payment for accommodation) up to 33 educators, allocating 100,000 euros for this.
Assistance in covering housing rental expenses in Riga will also be available to those educators who have returned to work in municipal educational institutions after at least a three-year break, provided that they resumed their employment no earlier than August 1, 2024.
