On the night of Sunday, February 22, snow and wet snow are expected over most of Latvia, according to forecasts from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center.
At night, it will be cloudy, with precipitation expected almost everywhere - predominantly snow and wet snow. In some central areas, the snow cover will increase by 5-7 centimeters. In isolated places, light freezing rain is possible, which will lead to icy conditions on the roads.
A moderate southern wind will change direction to the west and northwest; in coastal areas, gusts of wind will reach up to 15 meters per second. The air temperature will drop to -1…-6 degrees.
At night in Riga, the sky will be overcast, with precipitation expected: snow, wet snow, and locally light freezing rain. A moderate southern wind will shift to the west and northwest by morning. The air temperature at night will be around -4…-5 degrees.
On Sunday, February 22, the sun will occasionally peek out. Precipitation is forecasted only in the first half of the day in eastern and some central areas, with freezing rain possible in places. On the coast, the western wind will be gustier, while by evening, a light wind is expected across the country. The maximum air temperature will be -2…+2 degrees.
Although it will be mostly dry during the day in Riga, the sun will only appear in the second half of the day. A predominantly moderate western and northwestern wind is forecasted, which will weaken by evening. The air temperature will reach 0…+2 degrees.
