Director Mara Kimele warns: "Our nation is at its final stage."
Director Mara Kimele did not hide her pessimism about what is happening both in Latvia and in the world as a whole in a lengthy interview with Latvian Radio.
"Our nation is at its final stage. And again – it depends on us whether our nation will cease to exist in 50 years or not. It’s very close – two generations and that’s it. We will be no more," the director warned. She shared her emotions regarding the current situation in the world.
"My biggest shock last year was the statement that any powerful and strong army can conquer other countries if it has enough resources. That this is normal and that its territories should, of course, be left to the conquerors. Even more shocking to me was that all this was approved.
It is clear that all this is business, and the war is going on because someone has business interests, and the fact that people cannot join hands, unite, and stop the war is shocking.
Looking at the government level, I don’t see anyone saying – so, Trump, what are you talking about?
Yes, the rhetoric towards America is cautious.
Of course. They are our friends, they support us, and thus we become their servants... Everyone seems to perceive it as normal that we allow anyone...
If Latvia is captured, there will be exactly the same reaction. They have resources, they have power... they will say that Peter the Great ruled here once, so the territory belongs to Russia. What kind of talk is that?
Ukraine also did nothing there, and yet it is being attacked. In no way did it provoke this war. But one huge power, with the support of other countries, says: it’s okay, maybe you should leave its territories, it’s fine, maybe someday in a thousand years you will get them back, don’t worry. This shocks me," Mara Kimele said in an interview with Latvian Radio.
