On the last day of the year, frost will persist in Latvia, with sunny weather expected in many places; however, in the eastern part of the country, clouds will still occasionally bring snow, predicts the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre (LEGMC), as reported by LETA.
During the day, a weak northwestern and northern wind will blow, but in the first half of the day, gusts along the coast of the Gulf of Riga may still reach 15 meters per second. In most regions, the air temperature will not rise above -4 to -8 degrees, while in coastal areas it will be -2 to -4 degrees.
Also, in Riga, the cloud cover will occasionally disperse during the day, and it will be sunny. A weak northwestern and northern wind is expected, with gusts up to 15–16 m/s in the first half of the day. The air temperature during the day will remain unchanged — within -3 to -5 degrees.
