Strong winds will persist on Monday, meteorologists warned Latvians. Caution is advised.
On Monday, Latvia will experience gusty winds accompanied by wet snow, predicts the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Although the sky will clear in some places on Monday night, precipitation is expected over most of the country: wet snow, and rain in the west. In some areas, up to 4 cm of snow may fall.
During the night, a moderate to moderately strong west and northwest wind will blow, reaching 15-17 m/s in coastal areas. The air temperature in the western and central regions will range from -1 to +4 degrees, while in the east it will drop to -1 to -6 degrees.
Cloudy weather is expected during the day, with precipitation in many places, mainly in the form of wet snow. A moderate to moderately strong west and northwest wind will continue, reaching 15-19 m/s in the western and central regions, and up to 20-23 m/s in coastal areas.
The maximum air temperature on Monday morning will be between 0 and +5 degrees, but it is expected to decrease during the day.
In Riga, wet snow is possible during the day, with the west and northwest wind speed reaching 15-19 m/s, increasing to 20-22 m/s in the afternoon. The air temperature in the morning will be +3 to +4 degrees, dropping to 0 to +1 degrees during the day.
