On-call doctors and the family doctors' consultation phone will be available during the holidays.

Even during the holidays, sudden illnesses, injuries, or other situations may arise that require medical consultation or urgent assistance. The National Health Service (NHS) has gathered important information so that everyone knows where to turn in case of common or acute illnesses during the holidays:

For mild illnesses such as a cold, sore throat, slight fever, digestive disorders, or exacerbation of chronic diseases, residents are encouraged to contact the specialists at the consultation phone - 66016001. Experienced medical professionals will provide advice on how to improve well-being and help assess whether a visit to a doctor in person is necessary or if the visit can be postponed until the next working day.

During the holidays, in several cities in Latvia, on-call doctors will be available, providing the same services as a family doctor. This is an opportunity to receive in-person consultation even on weekends. The current on-call doctor, work schedule, and consultation locations can be found on the NHS website www.vmnvd.gov.lv in the section "where to get medical assistance?".

In case of injuries, burns, sudden deterioration of health, or other acute situations, it is advised to go to the nearest emergency medical care point or hospital emergency departments. Before heading to the hospital's emergency department, it is recommended to call and discuss the situation to ensure that the necessary assistance is provided there.

It is important to remember that emergency departments are not intended for receiving planned services but for urgent situations.

In life-threatening situations, such as sudden chest pain, severe injury, or loss of consciousness, it is essential to immediately contact the Emergency Medical Service (NMPD) at 113 or call the unified emergency assistance number 112.

The NHS reminds that with the approach of the holiday weekends, residents are encouraged to take care of their health in a timely manner - it is recommended to check the home first aid kit and ensure that it contains all necessary medications for daily use, as well as first aid supplies. Chronic patients are advised to request prescriptions for necessary medications before the holidays to avoid running out of medicines during the holidays.

More detailed information about the possibilities of receiving medical assistance during the holiday weekends is available on the National Health Service page - www.vmnvd.gov.lv in the section "where to get medical assistance?".
