Scammers are posing as employees of "Rīgas ūdens" and trying to arrange for a water meter replacement in order to deceive the residents of Riga and "con" them out of money.
LLC "Rīgas ūdens" has received information about cases where unknown individuals, posing as employees of the company, are attempting to arrange over the phone a supposed planned replacement or inspection of water meters, the agency LETA was informed by the company.
"Rīgas ūdens" is in contact with the relevant authorities and urges people to be vigilant and critically assess any requests for personal data, including personal codes or bank details, that may come during calls.
"Rīgas ūdens" reminds that the company's employees do not carry out any actions in apartments, including not replacing or inspecting the water meters installed in apartments.
Currently, the company is implementing a telemetry project, within which remote reading devices are gradually being installed on input meters, ensuring automatic reading of water consumption data. The responsibility for accounting and managing apartment meters still lies with the apartment owners.
If anyone receives such a call or has doubts about its authenticity, "Rīgas ūdens" recommends immediately terminating the call and contacting the company's customer service center at 8000 2122.
