Events for the Third Advent Begin in Riga

Today in Riga, events dedicated to the Third Advent will begin, the LETA agency reported from the External Communications Department of the Riga City Council.

Today at 19:00, the annual charity concert Nāc līdzās Ziemassvētkos will take place at the Torņakalns Lutheran Church, featuring laureates of the integrative art festival Nāc līdzās! and the mixed choir of the Nāc līdzās! foundation.

The concert will also feature well-known artists – Ilona Bagele, Daniil Bulaev, Intars Busulis, Rihards Zalupes, Karlis Kazaks, Paula Saiya, Renate Zviiedre, Anija Putninja, Aleksandra Shpitsberg, Kristine Paze, and the band Sudden Lights.

The musical accompaniment will be provided by the boys' choir of the Riga 1st Music School named after Jāzeps Mediņš.

Before the concert, a Christmas charity fair will be held, where visitors can purchase Christmas gifts made by children and youth with special needs for a donation.

On December 12, Riga residents and guests are invited to participate in the creative workshop Christmas Decoration at the Riga Porcelain Museum at 12:00 and 15:00. Participants will be able to create one porcelain souvenir or lace decoration from cast porcelain mass.

The finished product can be collected at the museum two weeks later. Families with children aged 10 and older, youth, elderly people, and individuals with mobility impairments are especially encouraged to participate.

On December 13 at 17:00, the concert Light. Birth will take place at the Ave Sol concert hall, featuring the Emil Darzins Mixed Choir.

On December 14 at 15:00, folk music lovers are expected at Koka Rīga on Krāsotāju Street 12, where the concert In the Glow of Bright Thoughts will feature the Vidus chamber choir from the Ritums Cultural Center and guitarist Aris Ozols. The Christmas Cantata by Karlis Lācis and other works by Latvian composers will be performed.

Meanwhile, at the Angara concert hall on Tallinas Street at 15:00, the Amadeus seniors' choir will perform as part of the concert series Quiet Broadcast.

Families with children are invited to the Town Hall Square, where at 15:00 the Christmas music concert Chiki the Pine Cone will feature the dixieland musicians Sunny Groove Dixie. Little listeners will be delighted by a special gift from the gnomes – a small pine cone named Chiki, which can be taken home and hung on the Christmas tree as a memory of the festive atmosphere of the concert and the wonder experienced together.

At the Ilguciems Cultural Center at 17:00, the Advent concert The Language of the Heart on a Winter Evening will feature Biruta Ozolina, Vigo Rachevskis, and Ernests Medenis. Free invitations are available at the Biļešu paradīze ticket offices.

At 18:00, the Ave Sol concert hall will host a concert of the Riga Chamber Choir Ave Sol Christmas Oratorio, featuring soprano Agate Grinhofe, mezzo-soprano Kristine Freimane, alto Kamila Silina, tenor Martins Zvigulis, and bass Arturs Schwartzbach. The conductor is Andris Veismanis.

At the same time, in the Ave Sol concert hall, as part of the Colors of the Seasons 2025 cycle, the concert With Migratory Wings will feature the vocal jazz group Assembly Singers, the mixed choir Salve, the mixed choir of the Latvian Academy of Arts Senais kalns, and invited instrumentalists.

At the Ziemelblazma Cultural Palace at 18:00, Riga residents are invited to the concert Winter featuring the Mirage Jazz Orchestra, Ievas Kerevicas, and the mixed choir Norise.

Jazz compositions on winter themes by Gunars Rosenbergs, Raimonds Pauls, and Alvils Altmanis, as well as new works by Madars Kalnins, will be performed.

At the Small Guild Cultural Center at 19:00, Richard Libietis and Gints Smukais will perform at the concert for the Third Advent.

And on Monday, December 15, at 19:00, there will be a concert-performance Grandfather's Mitten, featuring the vocal ensemble of children and youth Kolibri and an instrumental group.
