Last week, the average market electricity price in Latvia and Lithuania decreased by 0.5% compared to the previous week, amounting to €98.05 per megawatt-hour (MWh), LETA was informed by the joint-stock company "Latvenergo".
In Estonia, the electricity price decreased by 7% compared to the previous week, amounting to €78.12 per MWh.
Last week, there were minor fluctuations in wholesale electricity prices. Consumption in the region significantly increased; however, due to higher output from wind farms, prices remained roughly at the level of the previous week.
The price of the "Nord Pool" system rose to €46.59 per MWh, which is 6% higher than the previous week. In the Northern and Baltic regions, total electricity consumption increased by 12% compared to the previous week, which was partially offset by increased output from wind farms - it rose by 28% over the week, reaching 2066 gigawatt-hours (GWh).
In the "Nord Pool" region, electricity consumption amounted to 8720 GWh, while electricity production reached 9552 GWh.
Total electricity consumption in the Baltics increased by 4%, totaling 560 GWh. The amount of electricity consumed in Latvia rose by 4% compared to the previous week, reaching 146 GWh. In Estonia, consumption increased by 5% to 162 GWh, while in Lithuania, it rose to 252 GWh, which is 3% higher than the previous week.
Electricity generation in the Baltic countries increased by 17%, totaling 328 GWh. In Latvia, electricity generation was 9% higher than the previous week, at 110 GWh. Meanwhile, in Estonia, production increased by 29% to 90 GWh. In Lithuania, electricity production rose by 16% to 128 GWh.
Last week, the generation-to-consumption ratio in Latvia was 75%, in Estonia it was 56%, and in Lithuania it was 51%. The Baltic countries produced 59% of the total electricity consumed in the region.
