On Friday at 14:00, the highest air temperature in the country was +15.4 degrees, recorded in Mersrags, according to data from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Such warm weather on November 7 is recorded in Latvia for the first time. The previous record on this day was set in 1934 in Riga and was +13 degrees.
The record maximum air temperature for November 7 was broken at 11 weather stations - in Dagda, Dobele, Kolka, Madona, Mersrags, Riga, Saldus, Skriveri, Skulte, Stende, and Zilane.
In the middle of the day, the air temperature ranged from +6.8 degrees in Rucava to +15.4 degrees in Mersrags. In the capital, the thermometers showed +13.6 degrees.
