In this regard, the portal explains: according to the Law on the State Language, the official language in the Republic of Latvia is Latvian. At the same time, the third part of Article 2 of this law establishes that the law does not apply to the use of languages in informal communication among residents of Latvia, in the internal communication of national and ethnic groups, as well as in worship, ceremonies, rituals, and other activities of religious organizations.
Since the regulations do not require the mandatory creation of a "home chat," the language of communication in informal correspondence is also not regulated by the language law.
