In Riga, the exit from Bauskas Street to Mukusalas Street will be closed

Due to the ongoing construction of regional and urban bicycle infrastructure along the Riga–Kekava route, traffic will be closed at the exit from Bauskas Street to Mukusalas Street from today until November 14, the Riga City Council's External Communications Department informed the LETA agency.

The responsible party for the work has been instructed to ensure the installation of road signs, access for residents and businesses located on the specified section of the street, as well as the movement of emergency and public transport.

As previously reported, this year construction work is underway to create infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists on the section from the roundabout on Mukusalas Street to the border of Riga at Bauskas Highway (A7), with a total length of 4.2 kilometers, the state company "Latvijas valsts ceļi" (Latvian State Roads) informed the LETA agency.

The work in the territory of Riga is organized by the Riga City Council and is being carried out by the company "Tilts". The total contract amount is 5.9 million euros.

On the approach along Bauskas Highway to Riga, Latvian State Roads is organizing the construction of a pedestrian and bicycle path and a tunnel, which will provide a connection between the infrastructure built by the Riga City Council and the infrastructure of the Kekava region in the direction from the center of Riga to Kekava, Baloži, Rāmava, Katlakalns, and Valdlauči.

The creation of bicycle infrastructure of regional and urban significance along the Riga–Kekava route is one of three similar projects included in the EU Recovery and Resilience Plan. The other two routes are Riga–Ulbroka and Riga–Babīte–Piņķi.
