"I live in an apartment building on the 3rd floor, below me is a married couple, pensioners. They constantly complain that my grandchildren are noisy, running, and jumping.

But, first of all, after 10 PM the children are always asleep, and when they are not asleep, they are just playing. I can't make the children stop playing! And it's not my fault that the sound insulation is poor!

But these neighbors constantly make complaints and threaten with trouble at every encounter - they just psychologically exert pressure. What should I do? Is there a law or a way to deal with them? A reader from bb.lv"

There is a saying: "When you buy a house, you are not just buying a house, but also neighbors." The neighbor factor is greatly underestimated! Hence the numerous conflicts that can seriously poison life.

There is no answer to the question of how to deal with neighbors who claim that the noise made by the neighbor's children disturbs them. That is, various recommendations can be given - for example, to talk to the neighbors peacefully, to befriend them, and to convince them that normal healthy children cannot behave like pensioners: jumping and running is appropriate for their age.

One can try to use soundproofing materials - for example, lay a carpet or rug on the floor. One can try to find out what the level of sound conductivity (sound permeability) is in your specific house, and how to reduce it so that neighboring apartments do not suffer. If the problem is indeed noise, this may help. If every reprimand in the hallway is a manifestation of spoiled relationships - unlikely.
