From Saturday, precipitation is expected across Latvia, with heavy rains forecasted in some areas of Kurzeme, Zemgale, and western Vidzeme, according to meteorologists.
The highest amount of precipitation - up to 30 millimeters, which constitutes 35-50% of the monthly norm, will fall in Zemgale and the Riga region. The heaviest rains will occur in the morning and during the day, which is why the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre has issued a yellow warning.
In the eastern part of the country, the rain will be less intense.
Saturday will be overcast, with fog possible in some areas. In Kurzeme and Zemgale, a westerly wind will blow, while in Latgale and Vidzeme, an easterly and southeast wind will prevail until noon. In the afternoon and evening, gusts of westerly wind of up to 10-14 meters per second are expected in several regions of the country. The air temperature at night and during the day will be +8...+12 degrees.
In Riga, prolonged heavy rains are expected on Saturday morning and during the day, with air temperatures not exceeding +11 degrees.
