112-Year-Old British Woman Calls Looking to the Future the Secret to Longevity.

One of the oldest residents of the United Kingdom, Marjorie Hodnett Aylward, who celebrated her 112th birthday, revealed the secret to longevity. This was reported by the Daily Mail.

Marjorie, whom those around her call "Aunt Marge," resides in the Formby Manor nursing home in Merseyside. She is officially recognized as the oldest person in the northwest of England and the fifth oldest in the country. The British woman believes that the key to a long life is looking to the future — one should look forward with hope, not backward with regret.

"Life is meant to be lived, and it’s up to you to decide how to make the most of it," she added. The birthday girl also believes that one should do as much good as possible, in every possible way, everywhere, and for everyone, while there is strength.

Marjorie was born in London in 1914, survived two world wars, remembers air raids, and performed at the opening ceremony of the 1948 Olympic Games. Her first husband, Stanley, passed away in 1955, and a year later she married his brother, Hugh. After that, Marjorie worked as a primary school teacher in Devon for over 20 years.

On her 112th birthday, she received more than 125 cards and a special message from King Charles III. In honor of the celebration, a tea party was held at the nursing home with cucumber sandwiches, Victoria sponge cake, sherry, and homemade cake.

Earlier, it was reported that a resident of the United States skydived in honor of her 100th birthday and revealed the secret to her longevity. Peggy Wolf from Missouri believes she has lived so long because she never abused alcohol.
