A brand new Renault 5, which had been sitting in a garage for 43 years, has only 12 km on the odometer.

This unique find awaited its heirs under a mountain of junk in the garage of a residential house in a small village in the department of Saône-et-Loire.

The new Renault 5, a five-door version in the TL trim, is painted in an unusual and very elegant shade of gray-blue. The odometer shows only 12 km, and even the factory floor mats are preserved. Judging by the temporary license plates, the car was delivered in 1982 and has not left the garage since.

How could someone forget a new car in the garage?

After a brief investigation, it was revealed that the car was owned by a lady who had saved money for a long time to purchase a vehicle, hoping to one day obtain a driver's license. At the moment she decided to buy the Renault, she did not have a license, so the car was delivered to her home.

Later, the lady did indeed obtain her license but never decided to get behind the wheel for unknown reasons.

After her death, the house, garage, and car passed to her heirs. Currently, this Renault 5 has the lowest mileage of any existing vehicle. After a minor restoration, it will be put up for auction to the delight of collectors of rare cars.
