Doctor assessed the harm of the habit of cracking fingers

Physiotherapist Tumi: the habit of cracking fingers does not lead to arthritis.

Physiotherapist Claude Tumi stated that cracking fingers is often associated with aging, injuries, and arthritis. In an interview with Terra, he assessed the harm of this habit.

As Tumi explained, cracking fingers rarely poses a problem unless accompanied by other symptoms such as pain, swelling, complete blockage, or reduced joint functionality. Furthermore, there is no compelling evidence that this habit leads to osteoarthritis, arthritis, or other diseases, he added.

The specialist noted that many people enjoy cracking their fingers. There are several reasons for this. For example, for some individuals, this habit reduces muscle tension, and the sound itself evokes pleasant sensations and has a calming effect, which is why people often resort to cracking their fingers during stress, the doctor concluded.
