Dermatologist Craythorn: frost disrupts the skin's protective barrier.

Dermatologist Emma Craythorn warned that in winter, the skin's protective barrier becomes vulnerable. She discussed the unobvious consequence of frost with The Guardian.

The main danger, according to the doctor, is the dry air both outside due to the frost and indoors due to heating. In such conditions, the skin loses moisture faster than it can restore it. This disrupts the skin's protective barrier, leading to dryness, irritation, inflammation, and redness, especially in people with sensitive skin or chronic dermatological conditions.

The expert added that these effects can be reduced by using humidifiers and moisturizing creams. To strengthen the skin barrier, she recommended choosing products with ceramides and glycerin.
