I was playing myself, but I was worried about what people would think of me.
Lucy Liu revealed unexpected details about the filming of 'Sex and the City'.
The actress recalled her participation in the famous series in a recent issue of 'Life in Images' by Vogue.
The actress took part in the 4th season of the popular series, where she, according to the plot, carried a Hermès Birkin bag. Liu shared that there was special security on set that monitored the bag.
I thought, 'What’s so special about this bag?' she said.
Lucy played a client of Samantha (played by Kim Cattrall), who used the character's famous name to acquire a rare Hermès Birkin bag and avoid a five-year waiting period.
'I was playing myself, but I was worried about what people would think of me,' Liu recalled. 'The whole plot revolves around the Hermès bag. During rehearsals, I used a prop bag, and when we started filming, there was security, people in suits, like in the movie 'Men in Black.' They had a safe where this Hermès bag was kept. They wore white gloves, just as it should be.'

The Hermès Birkin bag was created in 1981 after the brand's artistic director Jean-Louis Dumas accidentally met actress Jane Birkin aboard Air France. Noticing that all her belongings were falling out of her favorite woven bag, he decided to create something fashionable yet practical for her. In 1985, Hermès asked Birkin to name the future iconic bag model after the star. Throughout her life, the company Hermès gifted the actress four more bags, but she preferred the original design and often carried that one.
